Ok i just received my package today.

I have the Zalman ZM-NC2000, which is the larger version of the 1000. The laptop cooler itself is very sturdy, the build quality is excellent and it's surprisingly light and the design is very sleek, functional and overall it looks pretty cool.

Cons:

One thing i kind of find slightly annoying about it is the USB cable that connects the cooler to the laptop is about 7-8 inches long which is overkill considering that the cable only needs to be 2-3 inches long so i had to use a twist tie to keep the cable from taking up space. Also it has a blue LED light to let you know it's on but it's pretty bright so i'm going to need to put black paint on it.

These are minor negatives and are easily remedied/ignored.

Pros:

I've only just started using it 3-4 minutes ago and it has already done a good job at cooling down my laptop. I hope it fixes the problem my laptop has with freezing up when playing TF2, i shall update my review once i can confirm if this issue stops or continues.

As far as it's fan noise level, i have to say it's extremely quiet. Almost too quiet, i actually had to check if it was defective because i couldnt hear almost any noise from the cooler.

Other Thoughs:
I expected more air to flow from the vents, i have it set to the maximum setting and the air flow definitely goes up but its not a strong airflow like i had in mind. BUT the air that does come out of it is cold.

Conclusion:
As of right now i'm reserving judgment on it's effectiveness at cooling down my laptop during gaming sessions, but during regular laptop usage i can tell a difference. As mentioned before, i will update this post after spending quality time testing it out.

I've been meaning to do a follow up on this review for a while. So here we go..

A year after having purchased the Zalman Laptop Cooler i have to say that the product is excellent. Under extended, regular daily use of my laptop the cooler does a great job. Temperatures skyrocket when i do a lot of gaming, especially with L4D and Fallout 3 but that's more of an issue with my laptop not the cooler's inability to do its job.

Construction is superb. I take it to LAN parties, school and trips to visit family all the time and it doesnt even have a scratch or ding on it. Its solid construction makes it one of the best purchases i've made. My only comment on it is that i wish that it would have a faster setting for the fans at times, but it does work as advertised and as a plus it's super quiet... most of the times i forget it's even on.

Also the LED light on the side that lets you know if it's on or not is blindingly bright. Very annoying, so i painted over it with some nail polish that my gf had. Easy fix really ;)

If you, or someone you know, has laptop problems as far as heat goes i highly recommend this product. It may be pricey but you get what you pay for, and it works better than just propping your laptop with a book... ignoring the heat issue in a laptop will cause it's life cycle to shorten considerably.

Other thoughts: I have the larger sized cooler and it fits my 15.4 inch laptop perfectly. If you have a laptop that's smaller than that then you might want to consider getting the next size down for the Zalman cooler. Larger laptops 16-19 inches might hang off the sides for the larger one but it should still work fine.
