Title: tales' unban request
Post by: tales on January 30, 2017, 04:53:28 PM
Hello all,
First of all I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Alex (tales), I've been playing Team Fortress 2 since 2012 and I have fond memories of playing on NewbsTF2's Sniper server. I also remember being banned by an admin for a reason I do not remember. I THINK I was accused of cheating but it was so long ago I could definitely be wrong. I wanted to join the jump server today and was greeted with the message I had been banned. So, I thought, after all these years I would come over here and figure out why and try to get unbanned so I can play on these servers again. I headed over to SourceBans and found out that I was banned with this reason:

"Steam Community Group Ban (annoyingprogamers) Hacking group"

I am not quite sure what that is since I was not able to follow that link nor have I ever heard of the group before. I would like to know, if you could find out, why I was banned for a group that I have never come in contact with before.

More details: I have never touched a TF2 hack before, I do have an alt account that I used to test steam family sharing and I played a season of Iron 4s with some friends and made it to the first round of playoffs and got stomped on (oh well).

Thanks for your time!

You were banned in a mass ban against a group of hackers/trolls. At some point, whether you remember or not, you must have been a member of the group and were placed into the mass ban. We've had quite a few people ask for an unban from this group. It's quite possible you were invited and simply accepted without looking further into the group.

At this point it's been a couple years since this mass ban and there's no real reason to assume you were actively hacking or trolling.
