With vacations and wedding season right around the corner, it's time to get your wardrobe in tip-top shape. From a new twist on peplum to a 'Little Mermaid' inspired trend, these Fashion trends 2023 will keep you turning heads all summer long.

Gothic glamour gets a chic update with fringe and sheer fabrics. Think lace-up shirts (Moschino) and monochromatic gowns that channel Wednesday Addams and Morticia.

Denim on Denim
The denim on denim look has been spotted on everyone from Kanye West to Rihanna and it’s easy to see why—it’s super chic and versatile. This particular style is especially in-demand right now thanks to new styles that have been given the runway stamp of approval.

Khaite, The Row and Altuzarra all had a double denim outfit in their collections, while brands like Toteme have taken it even further by creating a boat-neck denim shirt and matching curved-hem jeans. Matching denim sets is a major trend that will likely last into fall and winter.

Meanwhile, baggy jeans have replaced skinny jeans, with slouchy silhouettes from brands like Goldsign and Halfboy offering a fresh take on the iconic trend. As for skirts, the cargo-inspired style seen on Act Ndeg1 has been given a modern touch with raw edges and pockets that stretch all the way up to the waist.

After a year of shapeless house dresses and lingerie-inspired tops, fashion’s ready for risk-taking styles. Look to brands like Poster Girl and Andreadamo for edgy cut-outs in geometric patterns. The SS23 runways also saw waist-cinching corsets and babydoll night gowns that exude utilitarian sultriness.

A nice trick to pulling off the trend without triggering any offense is by showing just a sliver of skin in strategic places such as the shoulders, neckline and back. The peek-a-boo effect leaves more to the imagination, and guys love that.

Glam Utility
The glam utility fashion trend is the new take on utilitarian workwear and military-inspired pieces. Unlike the shapeless cargo pants that dominated the Y2K era (more you can read at wowessays), this fashion trend is refined and chic, featuring satin jumpsuits and reworked denim. It’s also about eye-catching elements like zippers and buttons that add a sexy touch to a functional outfit.

Take your look up a notch by pairing oversized blazers with wide-leg jeans, as seen on Liza Soberano. Or, try on a pair of baggy cargo pants with a black leather jacket for a chic take on the trend.
As for accessories, rosette clips are still in and will likely be in for the long haul. But this year, a range of playful hair clips will be available as well.

The Little Mermaid
The ocean’s blue hues have made a splash in fashion—and it’s not just because of Disney’s new live-action version of The Little Mermaid. A mermaid-inspired aesthetic known as “mermaidcore” is swimming all over TikTok with everything from seashell hair clips and tutes to lilac sequin gowns.

The shiny, sparkly style was spotted on red carpets including this ASOS one-shoulder draped maxi dress and this Paco Rabanne mini showstopper. Add a touch of mermaid flair to any outfit with paillettes (like these crystal-embellished heels by Laines London) for the fish scale effect.

Blumarine’s mermaid-inspired ready-to-wear collection and Bach Mai’s siren-inspired NYFW runway look also captured the whimsical trend. Whether it’s a wet hair look or a simple mermaid-style dress, the trend is sure to keep surfacing.

A recurring feature on our favorite celebs, fringe continues to ring out on the fashion radar. The face-framing style peaks at the mid forehead and blends into the top of the cheek bone. It's a flattering cut for clients with smaller foreheads who want to appear more youthful and sophisticated.

Fringe can also be used as a statement detail on a jacket or bag. For a more subtle take on the trend, look for leather iterations that have been lightly embellished with fringe accents. This option from Free People is a great example and is available in many color options.

If you're looking to channel a more western vibe, Angeles suggests pairing a fringe jacket or purse with flared knit denim and cowboy boots. Just be careful not to overdo it with the fringe—you don't want your outfit to veer into costume territory. And if you're a student on the topic of fashion, you can even find free essay samples at
