I think Thunder Mountain is as tiresome as it is because it's 3 stages of rolling for the winning side.  I still don't think I've seen a "fair game" more than a handful of times on that map, but because it's popular and fills the server, we've kept it around.

That said, I'm all in favor of swapping it out for another PL map.  I've heard Upward mentioned before by Karma so that's a likely candidate, and I refuse to add Hightower (it was awful at PAX.)  Any other PL suggestions would be appreciated - we previously had Frontier and Swiftwater (I think), but they never got played so they were removed.  The smaller the file size the better, as download times tend to get people to leave.

That's the major problem we ended up having with the customs on #7. Most payload maps are huge (100+mb). Stovepipe is about the smallest one out there at only 20-30 if I recall. Frontier is either the single biggest file size, or second biggest file size for any custom map, I forget which.

I'm confused...hoodoo is stock now, which means no one has to download it.

He's just using it as an example/for support of the statement that custom PL maps are huge, and since Hoodoo started out as custom... yeah.  Stock now, but still a big file, and one that used to have to be downloaded.

20-30 isn't too bad, so Stovepipe is a likely candidate good choice*.  Hoodoo is custom-gone-stock, but I also hear it has a lot of unnecessary and unused space and is generally not very good.  The size of custom PL is one reason why I've held back on putting many, if any, on.

* I realized I used that same phrase in two posts and it bugged me.  Some day, I should re-read my posts and see how many times I use certain phrases or variations on phrases.

If you must pick only one, make it stovepipe.  Do it for the Twan in your life.
