The class is easier and more fun to play as. Many like to start out because even if you're bad, you can still get a fair amount of kills if you rush in a lot. Although it's pretty much pointless 90% of the time to take on a half decent heavy who can aim with the minigun, many new players don't really realize what they're weak against, and what they should and shouldn't take on, so, you'll see plenty of them rushing in at you like a pack of raptors who are hungry for blood.
Thats why pyros take me out so much, because they travel in packs. 90% of the time, i can take on a pyro 1 on 1. But with one that runs in, does 50 damage before i kill him, and then has 3 more run in after him, its not easy.

Everyone here knows I'm a big fan of playing as pyro, especially before the pyro achievements.

Now however I don't play as pyro as often, mostly due to the sheer number of pyros running around. My team doesn't need a 4th or 5th pyro most of the time, or even a 3rd pryo really. I've been drawn to playing as spy more and the more I play as spy I see the similarity in how you play both classes. Both are ambush classes and you can easily apply principles from one to the other, especially if you're a backburner fan.

I am sick and tired, however, of people calling the pyro class cheap, stupid, unbalanced or requiring no real skill (usually saying "you just run and spray lollol). Hey, assholes, pyro takes a lot of skill. You cannot just charge in against anyone with more than an ounce of brainpower and experience. That almost always leads to your death. A really good pyro understands the idea of timed aggression, combined with excellent timing in general and situational analysis. A good pyro is aware of all side routes and always adjusts to flank groups moving into their base. I've sacrificed myself more than once by going behind a group and flaming the medic(s) to set off their uber earlier than intended, screwing up their timing and forcing them to either retreat or getting them killed due to not enough uber to crack the sentries.

Not that I was accusing anyone in here of saying pyros are cheap Smiley

Well I'd rather it be pyro than certain other classes.

i agree with hunter. stop saying the pyro is overpowered please! since they took off the health bonus with the backburner, it certainly isn't overpowered, and i am one of the few to sincerely believe that it wasn't completely overpowered even with the health bonus. i think you should still get +25...seems more than reasonable to me.

it does take quite a bit of skill to go pyro. it used to be my favorite class before i doscovered the heavy, it's actually pretty hard to do well. but when it does seem cheap when you're constantly being attacked by 4 pyros, realize that it's probably due to the fact that you're fighting 4 people at a time rather than the class being overpowered that you just got pwned. and usually at least one or two of said pyros will die in the attempt to kill you.

Pyro is a cheap class. The fact that you dont need to crit most of the time and you'll deal over 50 damage even to people to a good distance away from you is kind of ridiculous. That's pretty much why beginners are drawn to the class, and it's easy to use and understand.

That being said, it does take skill to master the class and use it effectively. It's the same as the soldier class, it's also a noob class but facing a skilled soldier is always difficult to overcome.
