TF2 Newbs (Team Fortress 2)

You have been solicited to make a new TF2 Newbs logo.. I tempted you with everlasting fame, karma, and a reserved slot. This much I can give you.. But wait that’s not all folks! For the extensive participation, I’ll be awarding a special honorz icon to the top 3 entries!

How does this work? I’ll tell you. The anonymity of it all is pretty shot because you can just look at who posted the pics in the thread : ) so rather than making some funky number system to keep this from being a popularity contest.. We’ll just go on the honorz system. (HA.) No really. You guys seem to be pretty non partial and since all the people who posted stuff are badass as it is, it shouldn’t be a problem.

We’re seeing big changes with the Newbs servers as of late, here’s the scoop..

Headshot + Grey Devils Server: Incentives are being offered for those who help to make this new server stronger. A rotation server that has a few tweaks for your slaughtering pleasure.. Crab battle sound effects during melee, Crits are off, FF at the end of the round WITH crits, Sudden death melee rounds, rock the vote.. Couple of tricks with the Newbs stamp of approval : ) 72.51.44.144 check it out.

Donations/Engineer Corps: I’m sure some of you have noticed some changes with the forums. Those who create content, and donate to keep our servers running strong are recognized on the forums and on the HLXStats. There’s a lot of developments in this area, so stay tuned.

Honorz on the forums: Honorz awarded to players who exhibit extreme abilities are now visible under your avatar on the forums. Thanks to octo’s pro coding skills.. Expect a lot more honorz to come.

SERVER CHANGES

WHOA. lotta stuff to cover here. If you havn’t noticed yet theres a lot of big changes coming through with the servers. I’ve been patiently waiting for the situation to fall into place as to not prematurely give the wrong information. Here’s the skinny.. The original servers 2fort #2, 2fort #3, the payload server, and the scrim/rotation server are going to be going away. Deep breath.. Here are the new servers that are replacing them.

24/7 2fort (Octo-land) #4 72.51.47.189:27015
24/7 2fort (Koans Kingdom) #5 76.74.152.37:27015
Rotation 1 (Koans Kingdom) #6 76.74.152.241:27015

A lot of people are seeing better latency, and smoother graphics on these servers. These are machines specifically designed to run TF and are well routed to service nation wide. Previously we did not pay for our servers. Those days are gone : ) We are working on a flexible donation structure to insure the servers stay up. (They cost money!) As the donation money comes in, we’ll be adding additional game servers to meet the needs of the community.

What does this mean to you? Not many changes will be coming about. New ip addresses.. So make sure to favorite the new servers. Same awsh0me admins, stats (once we do the full transfer over), stats free sundays, 12 on 12 heavy melee for no reason battles, and little mods like health and ammo when you capture. If you’re playing on the new servers it’s stats free until October 1st, which is when the new period will start. For the time being we’ll have a rotation server rather than a payload server. There was a big response to the rotation server and right now we only have funds for 3 servers so we’re trying a rotation. If you love the payload like many people do, donate! I’m sure you’ve forked over a few dollars for xbox live or.. WoW *gasp* in your day.. And TF2 is way beyond that stuff. Even if its just a few dollars, it all goes towards getting the servers running for you to play on! Reserved Slots! Think about all the time you wait in cue on auto join, and how much happier you would be making the best of your time available to get right on the servers!

Join the Steam Group! This is a good way to stay in touch with us, and make this transition as smooth as possible.

Now onto other cool things..
Koansrus has been a huge contributor to the community. Adming the servers, running contests.. Well koans stepped up big time with some donations and is currently funding 2 of the new servers (koans kingdom respectively). How do you thank somebody for being such a badass? Well.. a honorz in their honor.

-We’re currently looking for more people to start the servers in the early AM. Doing so not only makes you a badass.. It could earn you a reserved slot. : )

-Octos working on a ton of new stuff for the site. Any user generated content would be much appreciated. If you don’t have some.. nows a good time to make some right?

-And last but not least, just wanted to let you guys know lions are going to the playoffs this year and I might even say the divisional championships. NFL opening day w00t.

Ahh yes.. Feels like we’ve visited this topic before but this ones a little different. We did Honorz Octo and Golden Marmoset for their ability to be a teamplayer.. Sacrificing and such. This Honorz vote is in honor of the players who Organize, Verbalize, and Materialize.. offensive strategies (it rhymed.. okay?) So yea. the guy yelling SPY BEHIND YOU SPY BEHIN… damn. he’s team’n it up alright? This guy (or girl.. ) Is known for keeping things in order, letting teh team know they are sucking the big one because they are composed of 5 spies and 4 snipers. This guy may be on the mic, sayin ‘hey. it’s about time we stopped turtling.. and smashed these pansies’…

Best Sniper Honorz Vote.

You’ve got your medic, you’re ubercharged.. All seems well until one of these madmen hit you in the hat through a crack in the bridge.. Or hop down and give your medic a tasty crit machette. Madness. Best Sniper? How would I ever decide something like that. Well it’s not up to me, it’s up to you. Such an honorzable title cannot be awarded to just one player. When’s there’s roughly 50,000 users, I think we can have 2 best snipers : ) I need not explain the criteria for what a best sniper consists of, because I’m sure we’ve all experienced the wraith of these Newbs.

Golden Marmoset: PyrO? A MadMAN. I have personally witnessed Golden Marmoset keep an intel alive for several minutes all by himself. Comes in guns blazing and does his best to keep the momentum going in his team’s favor. Let I remind you, Pre Update, only REAL team players played Pyro..

Octo-dhd: This man eats and sleeps team play. A true support class player. I have yet to see a more dedicated Engy. His sg’s up before the scout rush. No quick caps this game fellas. No stickies on spawn or hackers on his watch. If the intels alive, he’s there. Spy, Scout, Medic. Whatever the team needs to keep the intel alive. A visionary.

It was a close race, but octo and golden pulled out a much deserved win.
